Randall Marion Heaps, 61, of Grant, Idaho passed away peacefully on October 19, 2024, after a short stay at the Levine House (Hospice of the Valley) in Phoenix, Arizona. He was diagnosed with Early-Onset Alzheimer’s Disease in 2020, which he endured patiently and valiantly.

Randy was born on February 12, 1963 in Logan, Utah to Esther Jane (Roundy) and Marion William Heaps. He was their oldest child and only son. Randy was a loving brother to his three younger sisters: Alisa, Melanie, and Marci.

The family moved several times before settling in North Salt Lake, Utah, where Randy graduated from Woods Cross High School in 1981. There he played the trumpet in the jazz and marching bands, sang in the Madrigal choir, and drove his grandpa’s 1947 Willey’s jeep truck.

Randy served an LDS mission to Bogota, Colombia in 1983. He was a dedicated, faithful disciple of Jesus Christ for the rest of his life, willing to serve in whatever way he was asked.

Randy graduated from Utah State University with degrees in Physics and Secondary Education. He met Carissa Randall on her first day in Logan. After a whirlwind courtship, they were sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on March 18, 1988.

Randy was a loyal, devoted husband and father who worked tirelessly to create a wonderful life for his family. He loved to sing, grow a huge garden, care for his animals, take his family camping and backpacking, and spend time with his grandchildren.

Over 36 years Randy and Carissa lived in seven rural communities in Idaho and Utah, where their family was warmly welcomed and they made life-long friends. Randy had a successful career as a web developer starting when the internet was brand new. He took great satisfaction in helping small businesses gain access to the latest technologies. He was extremely loyal to his clients, some of whom he worked with for decades.

Randy is survived by his wife Carissa Randall Heaps; sons, Jarom (Maddie), Christopher (Jasilyn), Braedon (Katie), Brooks, and Tanner; daughters, JaNessa (Landon) Droubay, ShaeLyn (Stephen) Thorup, and Lauren; nine grandsons, five granddaughters, and another on the way; mother, Esther Jane (Roundy) Heaps; sisters, Alisa (DeOrr) Wight, Melanie (Brian) Tingey, and Marci (Chad) Howey; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and 70 nieces and nephews who looked up to Randy in stature and character.

Randy is preceded in death by his father, Marion Heaps; grandparents, Brooks & Leona Roundy and Melvin & Norma Heaps; brother-in-law Dave Marlowe; nephew, Peter Howey; and niece, Elizabeth Randall.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 11am. The family will meet with friends from 6-7:30pm on Friday, October 25, 2024 at the Lewisville LDS Church, 101 Main St, Lewisville, ID and again at 9:30am prior to the funeral. Interment will follow the services at the Grant Central Cemetery, 154 N 3300 E, Rigby ID.

Randy’s family would like to offer their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff at Hospice of Eastern Idaho, Idaho Falls and the Levine House (HOV), Phoenix for their kind, compassionate, competent and personal care of Randy and Carissa during his last difficult weeks on earth.
