Richard Cameron Wilkerson

Richard Cameron Wilkerson, 42, lost his battle with cancer, on September 11, 2024, at his home in Buffalo, WY., with his loving family by his side.

Richard was born in Buffalo WY on May 5, 1982, to Rick O. Wilkerson and Becky (Simon) Wilkerson. He attended many schools throughout his childhood and got his GED in Casper, WY.

He was a very happy go lucky kid. Always had a smile and a contagious laugh. He was always willing to jump in and help anybody, which led to his abundance of friendships throughout his life. Growing up with Richard was an adventure filled with laughter, mischief, and unconditional love. He would always light up the room with his quick wit and humorous jokes.

His adventures took him to many places throughout his life. Learning to surf in Hawaii is a favorite memory of his. Snowboarding, water skiing, cliff diving, hiking, fishing, floating the Snake River, and golf were some of his hobbies, but camping was his all-time favorite. The Big Horn mountains were his home away from home. Doyle Creek and Dull Knife held his sprits up when his energy was low. It didn’t really matter where, if there were mountains, he was ready to camp.

His biggest adventure was with Halley Peters, a friend he had known for many years. They were married in a spiritual ceremony in Spokane WA on March 23, 2024. Celebrated a honeymoon in Jamacia, spent time in Florida and returned to Post Falls ID where her home and family live. He spent time back and forth from Post Falls and Buffalo during treatments to Rapid City SD.

Anybody that knew Richard, knew he was an avid Avalanche fan as well as the Broncos. High school, College or Professional, he enjoyed all the sports. Sometimes it was hard to tell which team he was rooting for as he would be complimenting both teams and then cussing both teams!

During his lifetime, Richard has been a fearless spirit, enduring several challenges in his journey of his circle of life. His biggest challenge was his cancer diagnosis, he had an inner strength beyond measure. During his 3-and-a-half-year battle, he lived more, loved more, and experienced more destinations and adventures as time would allow. Like a famous country song lyric, “he lived like he was dying”.

He is survived by his parents Becky (Simon) Wilkerson Streeter and her husband Shawn, of Casper, WY. Rick O. Wilkerson and his wife Amy Gallagher Wilkerson of Idaho Falls, ID. His spiritual partner Halley Peters of Post Falls, ID. His sister Tammy (Wilkerson) Schick and her husband Brian of Buffalo, WY. 2 step-sisters Keisha Shinkle (Jon) and Kelsee Gallagher of Idaho Falls, ID. Nieces, nephews and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

On September 28, 2024, we will come together to celebrate the life of our beloved Richard. Though he may have been taken from us too soon, his spirit will forever live on in the memories we cherish and the love we shared. Please join us at 85 Airport Road, Buffalo WY at 4 PM to share your stories.
