Robert (Bob)John Tanner, 81 of Rigby Idaho passed away September 18, 2024 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He was born May 4, 1943 in Rigby Idaho to Sanford Lauder Tanner and Nelly Roth Tanner of Archer Idaho.

Bob went to Rexburg high school and later served honorably, in the United States Air Force. He was married to Carol Ann Poore Tanner for 58 years before her passing in 2021. Bob retired from Tanner Brothers Trucking that he shared with his brother Richard (Jerry)Tanner.

Roberts most favorite things for many years was spending time with his wife Carol and traveling in their motor home south to enjoy fishing and better weather during the winter months. He enjoyed fly fishing at Henry’s Lake with his brothers and Camping in the early years with his parents and family. He was always working around his home, playing cards with family, occasional fly tying and golfing. Bob enjoyed the simple pleasures of life mostly, and was always enjoyable to talk with. He was adored by all generations of people young to old.

Bob is survived by three children, Robert Duane Tanner (Carol)of elk city Oklahoma, Richard Leon Tanner (MaryLynn)of Mesa, Arizona, and Helen Elaine Tanner Guymon (Don), of Idaho Falls but currently of Yuma Arizona. Four brothers including Richard Gerald, Tanner (Clara)of Rigby, Ronnie Tanner (Carolyn)of St. Anthony, Michael Tanner and William L Tanner (Sherrie)of Archer. Also, five grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, Sanford and Nelly Tanner of Archer, and one brother Leon (Janie) Tanner of Rigby.

A viewing will be held Tuesday, September 24, 2024 from 6:00 – 7:30 pm at Eckersell Funeral Home (101 W. Main Street Rigby, Idaho). A graveside services will be held at the Sutton Cemetery in Archer, Idaho on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at 11:00 AM.
