Rocky Jay Nichols, 70, of Idaho Falls, passed away June 25, 2024, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, surrounded by loved ones.

Rocky was born September 3, 1953, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Lavon “Nick” Nichols and Donna Brown Nichols. He attended Riverside Elementary, O.E. Bell Junior High School and graduated from Skyline High School in 1971. He also attended Eastern Idaho Vocational Technical School where he earned his associate degree.

On June 21, 1984, he married Pamela Douglass in Las Vegas, Nevada. Rocky and Pam made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where they raised their family. Rocky worked at the family business, Nick’s Appliance Service, as an appliance repairman alongside his father Nick, and his brother Terry.

In his younger days, he participated in many hobbies and became a very proficient skier, golfer and bowler. He delighted in taking day trips to explore new places, usually on a whim. He was a big Utah Jazz fan and enjoyed going to their games. He loved going to Monster Truck shows and attending stock car races and car shows with his son and nephew. He cherished his visits to his daughter and granddaughter and their families in Portland.

Rocky adored meeting new people and learning all about them. He could chat with people for hours and have a room full of strangers laughing within a few seconds. He delighted in helping others and was generous with his time and anything he had. He was a good friend to many.
