Ronald Steven Swanson

Ronald Steven Swanson passed away January 12, 2024 in Boise, ID.

On February 14, 1950 Hilmer and Usonia Swanson welcomed Ron into the world. They lived in Oakland, CA at the time. About 10 years later brother Brent was born and they lived in California until 1968. Then the family moved to Idaho Falls, ID. Ron graduated from Bonneville High School in 1969.

He then went to college at Idaho State University where he graduated as a Rad-Tech. After graduation, Ron, often know as “Swany” to family and friends, began his long and successful career at INEEL. Ron remained friends with many people he met over the years and kept in contact with them throughout his happy retirement.

Ron had one son, Chad Swanson, whom he had with his first wife Vicki May 7, 1977. He later met and married the love of his life Linda Swanson. Linda had three children, Troy, Valeria and Steve that Ron loved like they were his own. Ron and Linda enjoyed spending time traveling and enjoying the outdoors. They had a second home in Leadore, ID and they loved spending time there 4-wheeling, riding trails on the side by side, or hunting, among other hobbies. They also had a corvette they loved driving around in.

Ron was very close with Linda’s family, especially her brother Mike Norman. After Linda lost her battle to cancer, Ron continued spending most holidays with Linda’s family in Boise. Ron was a grandfather, father, son, brother and friend to many and he will be missed.

Ron is survived by son Chad (Lacey) Swanson, Step-Children Valeria Mabry, Steven Moriarty, and Troy Moriarty; Grandchildren Colton, Curtis, Alyssa, Jamyson and Dylan and Brother Brent Swanson. He is preceded in death by his wife Linda Swanson and both parents Hilmer and Usonia Swanson.

There will be a celebration of life held Spring of 2024 with more details to come
