Ryan William Johnson, 40, of Idaho Falls, passed away February 15, 2025, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

Ryan was born March 15, 1984, in Rexburg, ID, to Troy Johnson and Laurie Kay McFarland Johnson. He grew up and attended school in Idaho Falls and he graduated from Skyline High School.

He had shared his heart with his partner, Cami, since December 2021, although, they were in love much longer than that. Together, they made a home to raise his step-son, Francis, and their beloved cat, Gigi. They had many plans for the future including getting married, ren faire themed, which he begrudgingly agreed to, buying a home, and adding more children to their family. He was so incredibly loved by Cami and Francis. Francis would wait by the window every evening for Ryan to arrive home from work. They will forever hold Ryan in their heart.

Ryan had many hobbies. He was a musician in every sense. He could pick up any instrument and know how to play it. Some of his favorite bands were Sleep Token, Architects, Thrice, Metallica, Trivium, RX Bandits, and countless more. The last song played on his Spotify was “Fall Into Sleep” by Mudvayne.

He was a food connoisseur and he would happily taste test any new recipe. Ryan also was the biggest football fan. He could name almost any player and their stats, regardless of the team. He shared this love with a close group of friends whom he would play fantasy football with every season.

In the words of Ryan’s mother “This is the hardest post I’ve ever had to write, writing about our shattered hearts! We’ve been living in a nightmare since early Saturday morning when we lost our youngest son, Ryan. He is and always has been the most selfless human being I’ve ever known. Music was Ryan’s heart and soul! He was the most amazing guitar player, sliding his fingers effortlessly up and down the strings. It was mesmerizing to watch. Not only the guitar but the piano, drums and any instrument that he picked up. He started playing in bands in high school and never stopped. He also had a great voice, singing as he played the music, which was not inherited from myself or his dad. He loved all genres of music and when not playing music, attending concerts with his brother, Shane and his friends was another of his favorite things to do.

Ryan had an incredible sense of humor with a laugh that was hilarious and infectious! When he was with his sister, Dusti and brother, Shane they would all feed off each other and we would all be laughing hysterically!

Ryan found his soulmate a little over 3 years ago. Cami and her son, Francis, have been his family since they met. He has been so happy since they came into his life! We are all so grateful for the two of them and the happiness they brought into Ryan’s life.

He’s the baby of our family, my blue eyed baby boy that I nicknamed Buzzy Boe when he was born. My heart is beyond broken and a huge part of it has been torn out. I love you with my whole heart, Ryan, and I miss you so very much already and always will! I appreciate all the love that everyone has been showing us and I’ll reach out when I’m able! Please try to understand!”

Ryan is survived by his partner, Cami McCombs; parents, Troy and Laurie Johnson, step-son, Francis Fox Nunez; sister, Dusti (Todd) Jensen; brother, Shane Johnson; and nephews, Nate and Kade Jensen.

He was preceded in death by his nieces, Macie and Ellie Jensen; uncles, Byron Johnson, and Eddy McFarland; grandparents, Burton and Alta Johnson, and Bob and Carlene Kenney.

The family will visit with friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, February 21, 2025, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue. Services will be held at a later date.

Condolences may be sent to the family at www.woodfuneralhome.com.
