Scott Albert Tirrell, 60, of Idaho Falls passed away peacefully at home on March 20, 2025, the first day of spring, surrounded by loved ones.

Scott was born on September 26, 1964, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Albert and Deon Tirrell. Life tested Scott early when he lost his father at the age of five and his mother at nine. He was lovingly raised for a time by his Aunt Maxine and Uncle Don. His grandparents, Newt and Goldie Stanger, continued to raise him most dearly. They provided him with strength, support, and a foundation of love. During these years with Grandpa Newt and Grandma Goldie, Scott developed a love for fishing, a passion he carried with him and enjoyed throughout his life.

Scott attended Lincoln Elementary and graduated from Bonneville High School in 1982. During his younger years, he found joy playing hockey with the Idaho Falls Youth Hockey Association, traveling to games in Utah and Boise. A heartfelt thank you to Bob and Jackie Utterbeck and their sons for nurturing this passion and always being there for him.

After high school, Scott explored different paths, including a brief time in Logan attending vocational school. He worked in the oil industry, where the days were long and grueling, and later spent many years in Pennsylvania building swimming pools alongside friends and cousins. It was in Pennsylvania that Scott met Renee, married, and welcomed his beloved daughter, Alexa, who remained the brightest light in his life. After moving back to Idaho Falls, Scott worked as a painter and in construction.

Scott had a deep love for cars and an incredible memory for anything automotive. He could tell you just about anything you ever wanted to know. Despite the ups and downs life threw his way, Scott faced the world with optimism and generosity. He truly lived by the saying, “He would give you the shirt off his back”. Often, that was all he had, but he gave freely and without hesitation.

Words cannot express the gratitude, we as his sisters, feel for Larry Kennedy and Trisa Mattson for their unwavering friendship and love over the past many years. It meant the world to Scott, they were truly his guardian angels here on earth.

Scott is survived by his daughter, Alexa Tirrell, of Pottstown, Pennsylvania; his sisters, Trina Bristow, of Weiser, ID, Sandy Maurer (Randy) of Nibley, Utah, Annie Polson (Doug) of Rigby, Idaho; and Jeff Stanger, (cousin/brother-from-another-mother) of Bellflower, CA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents on both sides, and nephew, Joshua Williams.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jaycee from Advanced Home Health and to Dr. Brad Adams and the staff at Teton Cancer Institute for their kindness and care.

A family graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery.

A Celebration of Scott’s life will be held at a later date for friends and family.

Condolences may be sent to the family at www.woodfuneralhome.com.
