Shauna Lyn Hinsley, 74, of Idaho Falls, passed away at her home on Saturday, October 5, 2024. She was under the care of Brio Hospice.

She was born January 28, 1950, in St. Anthony, Idaho to Ray Young Parker and Norma Lou Parker (Morton). She grew up in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and attended Idaho Falls High School, graduating in 1968. She went on to graduate from Ricks College with her associate’s degree.

On January 20, 1971, she married Gene Edward Hinsley in Idaho Falls, Idaho. On March 18, 1972, they were sealed in the Laie Hawaii LDS Temple. Shauna and Gene lived in Stonington, Connecticut; Halava, Hawaii; Logan, Utah; Midland, Michigan; Shorewood, Illinois; Gilroy, California; and Idaho Falls, Idaho.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served faithfully in several callings including Young Women, Primary, Special Needs Primary, and Relief Society. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and served at the Humanitarian Center.

Shauna enjoyed cross stitching, embroidery, decorating for every holiday, and weekly lunches with friends. She especially loved spending time with her 3 grandchildren. Her grandkids were the light of her life, and she enjoyed spending her days with them. She also loved spending time with her many nieces and nephews. She was a great cook and was quick to share her talents. She was an example of kindness and Christ-like love; she was a friend to everyone, and everyone was her friend.

Shauna is survived by her husband, Gene E. Hinsley of Idaho Falls, Idaho; her mother, Norma Lou Parker of Idaho Falls, Idaho; her daughters: Jennifer Hinsley of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Emily (Derek) Smith of Iona, Idaho; her brothers: Blaine (MaryAnn) Parker of Murray, Utah, and Bryan (Debra) Parker of Idaho Falls, Idaho; her grandson, Logan Smith of Iona, Idaho; and her granddaughters: Londyn Smith and Shelby Smith both of Iona, Idaho; and her many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Ray Young Parker.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 10, 2024, at the Home Ranch Ward, 2051 S. Emerson, Idaho Falls. The visitation will be from 5-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls, and one hour prior to services at the church.
