Our brother and friend Stephen (Steve) Perry Keithly passed on to the next journey on August 30, 2024. Most who knew him found him funny and a bit cantankerous at times. He stood up for the underdog and loved sharing stories of his adventurous life.

Steve was born in Boise, Idaho on January 15, 1951, where he lived until his parents moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho in 1965. He graduated from Skyline High School in 1969. He was a state champion wrestler for 3 years in a row.

He was drafted to serve in the United States Army in Vietnam for 2 years and was honorably discharged. After he was discharged, he went to college at Idaho State University and The University of Idaho where he received his degree in Civil Engineering. He then traveled the United States working at several job sites and living in almost all 50 states.

He loved everything outdoors, saw art in every form of nature whether twig or stone, and his house was adorned with these treasures. He loved to fish, though I recently heard him say he didn’t like killing them. “The great irony of a fisherman”.

He struggled with health issues for quite some time but in the end, cancer was the final battle he couldn’t beat, but he gave it a damned good shot!

To quote Dillon Thomas ‘Do not go gentle into that good night, rage, rage against the dying of the light.” Godspeed brother.

No services will be held. Cremation is under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.coltrinmortuary.com
