Verl Steve Foster, 91 of Rigby, Idaho died September 3, 2024, peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on March 22, 1933 in Chapin, Idaho to George Henry Foster and Ruth Helen Miller. He grew up in Bates and Cedron area of the Teton Valley. He grew up learning to work hard on the family farm at the foot of the Teton mountains. He carried his strong loyalty to his family and deep work ethic with him throughout his life.

After graduating from high school, he was drafted into the army where he served as a sharp shooter for 2 years. He was then called to serve a 2-year mission to New Zealand South for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Afterwards he completed his 3-year service in the Army National Guard.

He married Enid Crookston December 14, 1962 in the Logan, Utah temple. They had two children, Kim Foster Barnard and Lee Verl Foster. He worked on various ranches in the early years, as well as running a milk truck on different routes. He was a guide for Teton Expeditions for several years. He then became a heavy equipment operator for Teton County. He plowed snow and maintained roads. He retired from the county when his wife Enid passed away in 1995.

In December of 1998 he married RaNae Hansen McCulloch. He farmed in the valley until 2008 and then retired a second time and moved to Rigby, Idaho. RaNae and Steve enjoyed four-wheeler rides and picking huckleberries in the mountains. They also enjoyed raising pigs, chickens, and cattle.

Steve enjoyed hunting, fishing, horses and ranching. He also enjoyed sitting in his shop by the fire in his special chair that Lee made for him.

He is survived by his wife RaNae, Rigby, ID. Daughter Kim (Jay) Perry, UT. Son Lee (Pam), Rigby, ID. Bonus children Lonnie McCulloch Rigby, ID. LaRue (Jim) Workman, Soda Springs, ID. Tiana (Tui) Filiaga, Taylorsville, UT. Ralyn McCulloch, Newport, OR. Seth (Tina) McCulloch, Provo, UT. Jim (Charlene) McCulloch, Bancroft, ID. Rinnie (Scott) Hancock, Rigby, ID. One sister Flossie (Ray) Evans, Portland, OR. One brother Glen (Karen) Foster, Rigby, ID.

Grandchildren 45, Great grandchildren 74, Great, great grandchildren 5.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Enid, parents, 5 brothers and 2 sisters, 1 great grandson, and bonus son Charles McCulloch.

A viewing will be held Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Eckersell Funeral Home (101 West Main St., Rigby, ID), from 6 – 7:30pm. A graveside service will be Friday, September 6, 2024 at the Cedron Cemetery in Victor, Idaho at 11:00 am.
