Vernon Reaves Hulse peacefully returned home to his Heavenly Father on August 30, 2024, surrounded by his family.

Vern was born on January 31, 1942, in Lom Poc, California, to Julius George Hulse and Elva Mary Hulse.

Vernon spent most of his childhood in the Rigby area; he attended elementary school in Swan Valley until 7th grade. When he was 12, his family moved to California, where he graduated from Monrovia High School in 1960.

On November 11, 1961, he married his Sweetheart Betty Jean Lingle, whom he affectionately referred to as Beep, in Covina, California. Their 62 years of marriage have brought them countless blessings, including three children, Lynn, Russell, and Sandy.

After a short time in college at Mt. S.A.C., Vern attended the California Highway Patrol Academy. In 1966, Vernon became an officer for the California Highway Patrol. He dedicated countless hours in his 13 years of service, honorably retiring in 1978.

He was a handyman and could fix ANYTHING! After moving to Idaho, he got his Journeyman’s License. He was also one of the first in the state of Idaho to receive a Master Electrician License. Vern, Betty, and their kids moved to the family farm in Ririe, Idaho, where he continued doing electrical work for a local company. In 1982, he and his friend Kim started KV Electric.

Vern loved the Denver Broncos, and many of his grandchildren have fond memories of sitting on Grandpa’s lap watching them play, becoming Broncos fans like him. You could often find Vern in his recliner watching his Broncos or sleeping to a Western. He adored “Wednesday Lunches” with generations of family.

Vernon is survived by his beautiful wife, Beep; his children, Lynn (Teri) Hulse of River Heights, Utah, Russell Hulse of Ririe, Idaho, and his Sugar, Sandy (Mike) Colbath of Ririe, Idaho; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; his sister Nelda (Steve) Leavitt of Rock Springs, Wyoming; and Brother Darcel (Renee) of Alpine, Wyoming.

He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Julius and Elva Hulse, and siblings, Julius Jr., Norlan Durrant, Gary Hulse, and Brenda Bright.

We sincerely thank his hospice nurse, Ann. She was fantastic; she was there for us and with us at every step.

We will miss the get-togethers around the fire in the park! We Love you!

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 04, 2024, at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street Rigby, Idaho, with a viewing before, from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Following the services, the interment will occur at Ririe Shelton Cemetery, 12463 E. 129 N.
