Wilda Mae Evans Haskett Mitchell

Wilda Mae Evans Haskett Mitchell, 95, of Ammon, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at her home. She was under the care of Aspen Hospice and her loving children.

Wilda was born on January 21, 1930, in Grand Junction, Colorado. At the age of six, she was adopted with two of her three siblings (Deloy and Virginia) to David Samuel Evans and Amelia (Emily) Kerns Evans. Her youngest sister (Patricia) was adopted by Earl and Della Packer (Earl was Wilda’s uncle). She grew up in Riverdale, Idaho. The family moved to Preston, Idaho, when she was in High School, where she graduated from Preston High School. She went on to Idaho State University and received her degree in cosmetology.

On January 21, 1949, she married her sweetheart, Donald Seth Haskett, in the Logan Utah Temple. Don passed away on February 23, 1987. She later married Dorcel Johnson, Chester Hammer, and lastly Clair Mitchell.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in many areas including Relief Society President, Librarian, Genealogy Instructor, and any other position she could.

She worked as a Mountain Bell Operator. She volunteered for the Citizen’s Emergency Response Team, on the Red Cross Relief Team, and was the creator and educator for the Red Cross Youth Group. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.

In her spare time, she enjoyed quilting, cross stitching, traveling, canning, and being with her family. She will be remembered as a kind-hearted woman who loved and accepted everyone and was always willing to share a meal and conversation.

She is survived by her son, Wallace Haskett of Pocatello, Idaho; her daughter, Marcia Roberts of Pocatello, Idaho; her son, Dennis (Vera) Haskett of Idaho Falls, Idaho; her daughter, Julia (Danny) Evans of Ammon, Idaho; 12 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren; many stepchildren, step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her adopted parents; 2 sisters; 1 brother; her husbands: Don (who she was sealed to), Dorcel, Chet, and Clair.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 15, 2025, at the Ammon 2nd Ward, 1100 Tie Breaker Drive with Bishop Aaron Powell officiating. The family will visit with friends and family from 6:00-7:30 p.m., Friday, March 14, 2025, Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls, and from 9:30-10:45 a.m., prior to services on Saturday. Interment will be at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Pocatello. Online condolences may be sent to the family online at www.coltrinmortuary.com.
