William Pickerill

William F. Pickerill, 85, of Idaho Falls, passed away August 26, 2024, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

William was born September 20, 1938, in Hutchinson, Kansas, to Dean Pickerill and Wilma Legion Pickerill. He graduated from Great Bend High School.

In May 1961, he join the United States Navy where he became a Machinist Mate Second Class and learned refrigeration. He was Honorably Discharged in April 1967. He returned to central Kansas where he went to work in the construction of the helium plant in Otis Kansas and upon completion went to work there as a shift foreman, operations manager, and then production manager. He retired in December 1998.

On September 14, 1970, he married Phyllis Ann Pickerill, in Denver, Colorado. Together they raised two wonderful daughters, Daphyna and Cynthia. Phyllis passed away in 2012. On October 3, 2015, he married AuraLee Rigby in Yuma, Arizona. AuraLee and her three children, Rick, Annette and her husband John Prophett, and Joe joined their families together.

William loved watching football and playing cards. He also and enjoyed dancing and cherished time spent with family and friends.

William is survived by his wife, AuraLee Pickerill of Idaho Falls, ID; daughters, Daphyna (Vown) Epperson and Cynthia (Galen) Reinhardt; step-children Rick, Annette (John) Prophett, and Joe; siblings, Cynthia Legion, Carman Legion, Bobby Pickerill and Mary Pickerill; grandchildren, Austin & Charity Epperson, Sierra Goeller, Mindy and Brent Phannenstiel, and Wesley and Alexis Smith; and great grandchildren J. Knox Epperson, Samantha Phannenstiel, and Corbin Phannenstiel, and Heidi Smith.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Phyllis Ann Pickerill.

A gathering will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue. At 11:00 a.m. Spiritual words will be offered and military honors will be held following the gathering. Military Honors will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and the United States Navy.
